Joe Murtaugh

Joe Murtaugh joined Arcanum after a two decades of distinguished service in the US Special Forces, having served both as Army Special Forces and as an elite Delta Operator.

In his current role at Arcanum, he oversees mission planning, execution and risk management, ensuring efficient resource allocation across the company and acting as advisor to the CEO on the firm’s strategic operations. He reports directly to the Senior Vice President for Special Operations and Mission Support

During his tenure with the 10th Special Forces Group (SFG) in Ft. Carson, CO, Joe held the position of Non-Commissioned Officer In-Charge (NCOIC) Special Forces Advanced Urban Combat (SFAUC). He was personally selected to lead the Troop for the Special Forces Crisis Response Force (CRF) due to his expertise in Special Operations. His responsibilities included coordinating multi-metropolitan urban training, resulting in a significant increase in operational capabilities.

Joe’s exceptional leadership also extended to his time with the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment – Delta, Ft. Bragg, NC, where he served as Team Commander – Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). He managed a Secretary of Defense directed initiative, leading a highly trained team in supporting strategic national goals.

Joe has been awarded the Bronze Star with Valor twice, the Bronze Star twice, the Joint Services Commendation Medal with Valor, and the Purple Heart.

He has a BS in Strategic Studies & Defense Analysis from Norwich University, Northfield, VT, where he graduated with honors (Summa Cum Laude). He holds a Top Secret-SCI Clearance.

He is based in the Company’s Washington, DC office.
